Think about an employee who disappointed you.
Someone who didn’t meet expectations.
Someone you eventually labeled as disengaged, resistant, or not the right fit.
Now ask yourself:
Did you fully understand what was driving their behavior?
Or did you become certain you understood before you actually did?
Most performance problems aren’t caused by bad employees.
Many are caused by leaders who became certain too early.
The employee you misunderstood may still be out there.
Working for someone who asked a different question before concluding.
